The floor starts below the product
The visible plank or finish is only one decision. Existing flooring, flatness, moisture conditions, movement, transitions, door clearance, baseboards, occupied rooms, and furniture handling can all change the work. A reliable estimate needs those conditions named.
- Replacement or repair: show the full floor and the damaged area so the boundary of the work is clear.
- Transitions: photograph every doorway, stair edge, threshold, and place where materials meet.
- Room use: explain pets, mobility needs, water exposure, or whether the space must remain usable.
- Material status: tell us whether you already own the material, have selected it, or want help comparing options.
Before the estimate
Send room dimensions if you have them, one wide photo in each direction, close-ups of damage and transitions, and the product label or link for any material already selected. Those details help distinguish installation labor from prep, trim, repair, and disposal.
Good question to ask: “What needs to happen before the new finish goes down?” A clear answer is more valuable than a square-foot price that ignores the existing floor.
